Reuben Kigame

Mr. Reuben Kigame is a preacher, teacher, debater, song writer and singer. He is a household name in Kenya but if you are reading about him for the first time, I give a very brief bio of his below. I visited Reuben at his mission centre in Eldoret, Kenya some time back and made the following video wich is about 19 minutes long. In the video, Mr Kigame walks you through WTM's resource centre, Fish FM radio station, sings 'Never Alone' from the album with the same title then makes a presentation. Being visually blind, Reuben has overcome many challenges.

Through the support of friends like you and me, has been able to reach many people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. TMr. Reuben Kigamehe Ministry van, a cetral vehicle in the ministry's outreach ministry was grounded and out of use. That makes it extra hard for him at his team to minister in remote areas due to an unreliable public transportation system. My desire was, therefore, to assist him in raising funds towards the purchasing of a new or a strong reconditioned second-hand van that would be able to tackle the rough remote roads in Kenya.

If you are able and willing to join hands with us to help WTM get a van that will be instrumental in their outreach ministry, you can forward your donations through our PayPal account. Any amount, cheerefully given, will be gratefully received. Kindly use the "Make A Donation" button on the left side bar and please mark your donation with "Amefufuka: WTM Van". All the music in the video is by Mr. Kigame.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do" (Ephesians 2:8-10

A Brief Bio of Reuben Kigame.

Mr. Reuben KigameMr. Reuben Kigame is the founder and director of Word of Truth Ministries and Fish FM Christian radio station. Blind since the age of 3, Kigame is a living testimony that physical disability should not be an adequate reason for not preaching the Gospel.

Reuben grew up in Bunyore, a densely populated are situated in Western Kenya, not too far from Lake Victoria. The warmth of the people and the simplicity of life, quite unaffected by urbanization, sort of made him who he is today. In the 3rd tract in his Country album Never Alone, Kigame sings about Sweet Bunyore, a place, and not a woman, as some people are erroneously led to think. For a while, he spent his childhood in Kisumu, right next to the lake where he attended the Kibos Primary School for the Blind and where I fell in love with the Luo language which, he thinks, is idiomatically richer than his own Luhya language.

After primary school Mr. Kigame proceeded to the Salvation Army High School for the Blind in Thika where he had both his O'Level and A'Level education. In between, after O'levels, he was admitted and attended Thika High School for one term in Form 5 before transfering back to the Salvation Army High School for the Blind. After high school, Reuben joined Kenyatta University where hegraduated with an upper 2nd degree in Education.

Reuben then taught at Maryhill Girls High School for four years before resigning in 1994 to establish and head a Christian Apologetics organization called Word of Truth Ministries, a group that defends and explains the Christian faith to its critics and opponents. Reuben’s organization also equips Christians for such an active defense of Christianity. Reuben holds debates, lectures and open forums in the area of Christian Apologetics in Kenya and abroad.

Between 1996 and 1998, Reuben studied Christian Apologetics at the Institute of Christian Apologetics under the auspices of the Ravi Zacharias International Ministries in Atlanta, Georgia and is currently doing a Masters programme in Apologetics at the Southern Evangelical Seminary in Charlotte, North Carolina.

On 5th September, 2006, Reuben lost his wife Mercy, in a cruel road accident. She died while taking their daughter, Shema, for eye surgery in Nairobi. Shema survived the tragic accident and Kigame was grateful for the donations friends of Amefufuka.com gave towards eye surgery which was later successfully carried out. Together, Reuben and Mercy had three daughters; Shalom, Shekinah and Shema. After prayer and meditation, Reuben married Julie Mugone in August 2007.

Fish FM

The station broadcasts on 97.1 mhz and reaches an estimated population of nearly two million people scattered over three provinces. Reuben officially launched Fish FM three days before the death of his wife, Mercy who passed into glory on 5th September, 2006. He runs it now with the help of a staff comprising mostly young men and women and his newly-wed wife, Julie.

Fish FM has four main aims:

  1. To evangelize (under the slogan “Fishing the Lost and Feeding the Found)
  2. To educate (including social, economic and spiritual empowerment)
  3. To inform (through hourly news broadcasts and select features) and
  4. Wholesome entertainment (by playing clean music and skits, etc fit for everyone’s listening 24 7)

Your assistance is needed

You may want to donate new or your old books, cassettes (yes, audio cassettes), videos, CD's and DVD's. Magazines, periodicals and any other learing materials will be of great help. Do you have an old cassette player you no longer use? Please donate it. The same applies to CD/DVD players, TV sets and computers. Do not throw them away, donate them for a blessing to others.
