Letwin Berebende

Letwin BerebendeBorn in a family of three and being the only girl, Letwin was born last. She was born and educated in Gweru, Zimbabwe and worked as a PA/Secretary at ZBS (Zimbabwe Building Society) in Masvingo then relocated, several years back, to the UK where She worked as an executive secretary/PA for National Health Services - NHS. She studied at the University of Salford (Manchester) for Human Resources Management (CIPD). She is married and blessed with two beautiful lil princesses, Solace, Eden and Louise, Kendra.

Letwin contends that being a gospel artist never was her intention but a calling, "YEAH! GOD'S CALLING!!!", she emphasises. She started recording after a miraculous healing when God gave her back her life and a song, "From Despair to Destiny" arose. She have since released two albums and a DVD clips (From Despair to Destiny).

During the course of 2004 She suffered terribly from multiple illnesses and the doctors could not diagnose anything for her, but God the Great She Am delivered her. She lost her sight, and operations were done, She failed to eat nor drink, woke up one morning and could not get up and walk, She failed to do the things She used to do for herself, then She had a partial stroke.

Terrible attacks happened one after the other, the devil had evil plans, but God turned it all for the good. In November 2004, God healed and gave her back her life, He gave her a song; "FROM DESPAIR TO DESTINY" and She recorded her first album and the song that He gave became the title track.

She have since recorded another Album; "I'M REDEEMED" which was released in June 2006. We now have brand new hit album; "AIN'T GIVIN' UP" - A whole soukous/rhumba flavour, to be launched in Zimbabwe during EASTER, APRIL 2007. This is a divinely engaged project of GOD - THE GREAT I AM. Trust her on this one and I'm loving it. Well, I'm pressing on towards the mark of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus, Amen.

Below is an article from the Herald - a national newspaper in Zimbabwe about her farewell tour after various shows.

GOSPEL diva Letwin Berebende bade farewell to her legion of fans with a polished act in Mabvuku at the weekend.

The sold-out show rocked gospel and secular music fans alike largely as a result of her beat which straddles between praise and worship as well as rhumba/soukous style. After what appeared to be a nightmare for Letwin since last month, the weekend’s show finally brought smiles to her face.

She opened her act with Mumba MaBaba, a song taken off her soulful album I’m Redeemed, much to the delight of the crowd. She then performed songs from her latest release Ain’t Giving Up, such as Jesu Wangu and Behold and See that caused a frenzy into the crowd.

She also churned out Ndomunamata and Masikoli sung in Lingala, which means redeemer as well as South African dance song called Ndirori.

A member of the Family of God Church, Letwin had a miraculous recovery in 2004 after she received grace from God. She had fallen ill and could hardly do anything..

She then started composing songs based on what she believed was her miraculous healing. With help from Liberty Chinoda, she found herself working on he debut aptly titled From Despair to Destiny.

The album did well on the market and soon she was working on her follow-up, the 11-track I’m Redeemed.

Ain’t Giving Up, her third album was released early this year and like the second, it has pronounced rhumba/soukous flavour, the music Letwin used to listen to before she was saved. She dedicates the album to her late mother’s sister Rindai Fortune Shu-mba, who died last year.
